Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege
My question his answer
I was having a conversation with an older gentlemen I know the other day.
When I say older I mean he is 72 years old.
So yeah he has defiantly lived a life .
Well anyway as we were talking I asked him what I thought was an interesting question .
I asked him what he thought the most important thing he had done in his 72 years of life was.
After I asked that question the old man scratched his head and looked kind of puzzled for a second.
I started thinking that maybe I had made a mistake by asking him this.
However he spoke up and said “well son I guess the most important thing I have ever done was love my wife and children with all my heart”
I told him I thought that was an awesome answer .
And then he said to me “however son that was not a thing to do “
I asked him what he meant .
He said “well loving my family was not something just to do it was a gift from them to me”
He went on to tell me about his love for his family .
And then he said “we all can be loved by someone but to love someone is the greatest gift of all”
I think a lot of us these days feel like that we are obligated to care for our family and friends.
When we should feel like this older man …we should look at loving our family not as a task we should look at it as a gift .
And be proud that we have that opportunity to love them.
The old guy was right love is not a thing to do .
It is a gift that we should cherish .
